The last day of visit was to the Tian Tan Buddha's place, located at the Lautau Island which is quite near to the Airport. You have to travel to the last station which is Tung Chung thru the Tung Chung Line interchanged at "Central".
When you reach and exit the Tung Chung Station you will see this shopping mall. |
To the left, you will see the Bus stop and the cable car. Both the cable car or the bus 23 will bring you to the Big Buddha's place. The bus is very much cheaper. You can also use your Octopus card if you take the bus. |
This is where the bus stops and you can either head and walk up to see the Big Buddha or you can turn around wandering at the Ngong Ping Village first. |
As time concerned, I chose to climb up to see the Big Buddha first. Before climbing up the stairs, there were some counters where you can buy the voucher for the vegetarian meal. As I was alone, I chose the 3 dishes set, ideal for 1 person, costs me HK$88. You should do that first as you can only enter the exhibition hall beneath the Big Buddha with that voucher. No photos allowed inside. |

This is the place where jossticks were lighten up. |

Big bunch of jossticks |
Some just do not know where the remaining bunch of jossticks should be placed, so they just placed it here. |
Larger jossticks were placed here. |

I had my vegetarian meal here. |
I was served a large bowl of soup at first. Wow, just imagine having a big bowl of soup for 1 person. |
After that came 3 more dishes. The food really did fill up my empty stomach, a lot. |
On the way back to Ngong Ping Village, I stopped at the restaurant called Tak Kei while waiting for the rain to stop. |
I ordered the Shan Shui Tau Foo Fa at the Tak Kei place. I have never tasted such a smooth tau foo fa before in my life. So nice! |
Ngong Ping Village |
I went in to see what's with the Walking with Buddha. If you know welll the Story of the Buddha you will be a bit dissappointed as it is not what you expected. Despite the movie, I would say nice decorations. |
Ngong Ping Cable Car centre for those who wants to take cable car back to Tung Chung Station |
Finally, I headed back to Tsing Yi station and took the Airport Express train to the HKIA which costs me about HK$60.
Wonderful Trip, I would say. though it is quite short.
